Common Ground
Common Ground is a series of 3D scenes built in Unity, exploring the intersection of human life where it may not seem apparent. I began this project with three seemingly incompatible environments: a warm field at sunset, a snow-covered mountain forest at night, and a red-lit urban street. Each scene uses different colours and elements, appearing disconnected from the others. Then, I gradually mixed and overlapped these different environments to serve as a portrayal of how we have more in common with strangers than we think. Snow settles into city streets, mountains rise behind storefronts, and desert grasses emerge along sidewalks. I want viewers to gain a sense of familiarity after seeing the visuals repeated, similar to the familiarity you gain when getting to know someone. I believe human connection is important, and I want to create work that is reflective of that by revealing common ground in human experience.
