Kelowna Through Time
Using information from visual and text-based archival resources, we created a virtual reality world in Unity to explore land-use change in a region of the Okanagan over several centuries. The target audience for the project was publicly engaged individuals in the region, including but not limited to policy makers and city planners. Through chronicling the region’s land-use change, the project aims to express the compounding impacts of development choices on a particular environment over time. Beyond visual changes, we included interactive statistics of land-use change, breaking down the region by percentages into different anthromes. This project was created in collaboration with Calum Keys and SUST 300 students Jacqueline Rowe, Zoe Sibthorp, and Kira Merchant.
